Welcome
to
our Guest farm
Otjihaenamaparero “Dinosaur’s Tracks”
The farm, located between Windhoek and Etosha national
park, is an ideal starting point for diverse activities.
We are a small farm, but nevertheless we offer a special
and very private atmosphere in Namibia’s natural
beauty near the Mount Etjo.
On our Guest farm you will find the famous Dinosaur
footprints which are declared a
> National Monument <
in the Etjo sandstone.
Immediately next to the approx. 200 Mio years’
old impressing fossilized Dinosaur’s tracks,
you will find
our guest-house
built in 2003.
It is located in the middle of lush vegetation and
surrounded by many big trees.
Each guest-room has its own terrace with a beautiful
view of the impressive mountain scenery and the games
crossing along our two lakes.
Enjoy the beautiful landscape - especially in the
evening - watching the fantastic sunset and taking
a "Sundowner".
For our camping -
guests
there is a camping site with four
places available, between big trees giving pleasant
shadow.
Each camping ground has its own drinking water facility
and fireplace; and of course you can use the barbecue
place.
You may spend your days relaxing in the shadow of
the acacia-trees and your evenings sitting at the
campfire enjoying the atmospheric starry sky of Namibia.
In almost all guidebooks and other travel brochures
you will find information about our farm; mentioning
the Dinosaur footprints together with our guesthouse
and campsite.
All over the world you will find only a few dozen
of these footprints, but the most impressive finding
place is on our farm in the region of > Otjihaenamaparero
< under legal protection - as all fossils are.
The mount Etjo
itself forms a narrow plateau of 16 km length and
a maximum width of 3 km. The highest point is 2086
m above sea level.
The upper plateau of the Etjo is formed by approx.
70 m of sandstone.
The ridge forms a watershed. Rain falling on the southern
Etjo flows into the “Omaruru” river, a
so-called dry river which flows to the west, while
water from the north-eastern parts of Etjo flows into
the “Omatako”, flowing to the east.
The river “Omaruru” crossing our farm
invites you to beautiful walking tours. Along the
Omaruru-river you will find the opportunity of guided
walking tours enjoying the fascinating mountain scenery.
Here, all over the year, you can find a pleasant dry
climate.
Namibia
is one of the geologically most interesting countries
in the world. The stunning rock formations have their
origin in the early history of the earth and have
been weathered and ablated through exogenous forces.
Fascinating rock formations and beautiful landscapes
are the results.
The manifold nature of the origin country with an
exciting geology has ever fascinating all the time
explorers, locale nature- enthusiasts and tourists.
The popular Etosha
national park,
an area of more than 22.200 sqkms in the north of
Namibia, is one of the world pre-eminent wildlife
areas, and one of the world’s biggest nature
reserves.
More than 110 mammal species are living in the nature-reserves.
In the southern parts of the park dispersed waterholes
are the basis of existence for manifold animals in
the Etosha national park.
Namibia disposes of 21 national parks, reservations,
and departments, and is one of the most beautiful
safari countries.
A visit to the Etosha national park is one of the
highlights for travelling to Namibia.
Not far from our farm, which could be easily planned
as a one day tour, there is another interesting national
park:
The Waterberg Plateau Park
The Waterberg Plateau,
rising more than 200 metres above the surrounding
plains, has
a width of ca 8 - 20 km and a length of 50 km; it's
a mesa massif consisting of porous sandstone. Highly
interesting flora and fauna can be visited here, especially
endangered animals that found protection here.
The plateau itself is one of the most interesting
geological sites in the country and one of the most
spectacular features with sheer cliffs and fascinating
rock formations.
Whether you want to relax and restore your energies,
or
want to manage something, our farm is the right place.
Enjoy the impressing landscape on our farm in the
African wilderness and combine your visit of the dinosaur
tracks with watching wild animals, taking guided walking
